Creating a new Remote Desktop Windows User and Prodigix OA user

You will need the Username and password that the client wants setup before creating the account.

When creating a new Remote Desktop account and OA user account you will need to set the permissions in IE.

*After Account is setup, make sure to update the client access list. To do this head to https://www.prodigix.com/clientaccess and select the Add/Edit client, select the client and update the column named Windows Users and save the page.

*You can also update this number by connecting to .74, once connected open the OA, then open Distributor Manager, once in the distributor manager go into the flags-custom section and update the column named Windows Users.

*This is important due to monthly billing of the client.

Remote Desktop Windows User account

Log onto the clients Remote Desktop you are wanting to add the new user, from the clients server, open the Computer Management, select Local Users and groups and then Users.

Once in the users section you will select the More Actions on the right, then select new users.

You will set the User Name as their login, then you will set the Full Name and Description as User(X), X being the number of accounts on the Remote Desktop so you will want the new user to be 1 higher than the old highest. IE Old Highest = User99, new user should be User100

Set the Password as the one they gave you initially, you will then set the User Cannot Change Password check box and Password Never Expires check box, the other two check boxes of change password on login and account is disabled will be unchecked and finish with the Create button.

Once the user has been created you will want to right click the user and select properties, you will also want to open the properties on one of the existing accounts.

Once you have them both opened you will need to copy every tab so that the new users properties match the old one.

The tabs you will be updating are the Member of, Profile, Environment, Session, Remote Desktop Services Profile and Remote Control.

Once complete select Apply and OK on the New User, make sure to click cancel on the old user properties otherwise it will reset permissions on the c:/files folder.

Prodigix OA User Setup

The Prodigix OA user can be setup either by Prodigix or by the client.

Log into the Office Automation and head to the administration section in the bottom left, select the User Manager and you will see a pop up.

Use the orange Page in the top left of the pop to create a new OA user account, you will set the same username and password as the windows account unless otherwise specified. You can fill out the rest of the information if they would like but the username information is the only one used throughout the OA.

Once you have created both the account's you will want to log into the Remote desktop as the new user and OA as the new user, this will make sure the password is setup as intended.

IE Permissions

Once logged into the OA, head to the Distributor manager in the General tab on the left and open the DC.

If the DC loads the IE permissions are already setup, if they do not load you will need to key in alt + t  to open a dropdown called Tools.

Once in the Tools section select the Internet Options a pop up will then appear, select the Privacy section at the top of the pop up.

You will then set the settings to default, to finish up click apply.

To make sure you did this correct re-open the DC and make sure it loads.

**Clients often create an OA account and don't tell you the password, which you will need to log in.
